Animal Care on Wheels

February 22, 2019

  • Our baby and juvenile Bluebulls (Nilgai) are under recovery at our Hospital.
  • Both of them were attacked by dogs under separate circumstances.
  • They were brought to our hospital by some local farmers.
  • The baby had a very bad bite on her neck just missing the jugular and a big chunk taken out of her right thigh.
  • She is recovering well with regular dressing and follow-up meds.
  • The older one was a victim of a vehicular accident and multiple dog bites.
  • He had a badly fractured ankle in the hind leg.
  • The wound was open and filled with mud when he came in.
  • Our vets flushed the wound, bandaged and splinted the leg.
  • He is now up and moving about but still has a long way to go for recovery.
  • Dog bite cases in bluebull fawns have gone up considerably.
  • This is the 5th fawn we have received out here, with one being released back to the herd and the others succumbing to their severe injuries.
  • Feral dogs are becoming a massive nuisance to these wild animals.
  • Hence our awareness programs for local community has been going on for many years to keep them updated with such cases and keep a control on the feral dogs.
  • Thank you very much for your kind support in the form of generous donations that keeps us going with saving as much as innocent lives that we could.
