Our baby and juvenile Bluebulls (Nilgai) are under recovery at our Hospital.
Both of them were attacked by dogs under separate circumstances.
They were brought to our hospital by some local farmers.
The baby had a very bad bite on her neck just missing the jugular and a big chunk taken out of her right thigh.
She is recovering well with regular dressing and follow-up meds.
The older one was a victim of a vehicular accident and multiple dog bites.
He had a badly fractured ankle in the hind leg.
The wound was open and filled with mud when he came in.
Our vets flushed the wound, bandaged and splinted the leg.
He is now up and moving about but still has a long way to go for recovery.
Dog bite cases in bluebull fawns have gone up considerably.
This is the 5th fawn we have received out here, with one being released back to the herd and the others succumbing to their severe injuries.
Feral dogs are becoming a massive nuisance to these wild animals.
Hence our awareness programs for local community has been going on for many years to keep them updated with such cases and keep a control on the feral dogs.
